The Chase's Governess says Bradley Walsh's Doctor Who role has held up filming

The Chase‘s Governess – aka Anne Hegerty – has claimed that Bradley Walsh’s role in the new series of Doctor Who is holding up filming for the ITV quiz show.

Bradley is well known as the host of The Chase, though last year was cast as one of the Doctor’s new companions, Graham, in the BBC sci-fi show.

And while she admits she is a Whovian, Anne said that his schedule has meant he hasn’t had as much time to film new episodes of the game show.

“It can be hard going,” she told The Mirror. “The problem this year [is] Bradley has been so unavailable as he has been doing Doctor Who. Bradley was very determined that the one thing he was not going to give up was The Chase.”

Anne revealed that the episodes airing now were filmed a year ago, but revealed they haven’t filmed any new ones for months.

“We stopped filming for a few months when Bradley did Doctor Who,” she continued. “We did some shows in April and June. [But] I have not filmed since July.

“As a Doctor Who fan, I am really excited that he is on the show. But as someone who works with him, I do hope we are going to get some time to make new shows.”

Anne added: “We have always got about a year’s worth of shows in the can. The ones going out at the moment are from 2017.”

Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for comment.

Meanwhile, Bradley recently revealed that he almost turned down the role of Graham in Doctor Who, mainly because he wasn’t told in advance who the new Doctor would be.

Doctor Who returns to BBC One with ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth’ on Sunday, October 7. The Chase airs on ITV.
