If you’ve seen Crazy Rich Asians enough times to practically reenact the script from beginning to end, you’re probably ready for the second film, which is still in its infant stages. Or, you can get excited about a Crazy Rich Asians-inspired TV show, which is currently in development over at ABC.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the network is working with Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao to develop a new show, which was pitched as Lazy Rich Asians, that centers on Janet Zhao, a first-generation Chinese American who has a—you guessed it—a crazy and rich family, one that she’s tried to keep at a distance. That is, until her wealthy grandmother dies and leaves all her riches to Janet.

Gao, who will write the script and produce the untitled comedy series, won her first Emmy at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmy ceremony for writing the “Pickle Rick” episode of Rick and Morty.

Crazy Rich Asians, based on the first book of Kevin Kwan’s popular trilogy, ruled the box office for three consecutive weekends in August and has grossed more than $164.3 million worldwide since opening day. The film was dethroned last week with the release of The Nun. Somewhere, Rachel Chu and BFF Peik Lin are screaming “Bok bok, bitch” to Valak aka The Nun.
