Man United fans think they know why Ed Woodward is hiring a new analyst

Manchester United’s recent record in the transfer market has come in for some criticism.

Jose Mourinho appealed for more signings this summer, though United failed to back their manager, pointing to the numerous players they had only recently spent lavishly on.

But the club’s failure to hit on the majority of their signings in recent years has clearly been cause for concern.

With the gap to Manchester City seemingly not closing, the club are looking to improve how they identify talent.

A new job has been posted by the club in pursuit of a scout capable of discovering a player capable of inspiring a renaissance at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are on the lookout for a ‘Recruitment Analyst’ within the scouting and recruitment department at the club – which has left some United fans confused.

A confused reaction followed the release of the advert, with many suggesting the job criteria fulls firmly under Mourinho’s duties.

But after reported friction between Woodward and Mourinho, the former seemingly does not trust the latter to highlight those capable of transforming United.

Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof appear to be low on confidence despite arriving for big money.

And now United are on the lookout for a more scientific approach to identifying targets, which is seen as a knock on the trust in Mourinho’s judgement. Only time will tell whether this new approach will see more success in the market or not.
