The Manhattan art dealer accused of cheating actor Alec Baldwin is facing hard time for tax fraud.
Mary Boone, 66, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court Wednesday to cheating Uncle Sam to remodel her Manhattan apartment.
According to court papers, she evaded over $1.2 million in federal income taxes in 2011 by claiming $1.6 million in personal expenses as tax-deductible business expenses, including $800,000 for a remodeling and $120,000 for a second apartment during the remodeling.
Boone faces up to three years in prison and a $60,000 fine.
Baldwin recently sued Boone over the sale of a Ross Bleckner painting that he claimed was fake. She settled for seven figures, according to the New Yorker.
“Mary’s only statement is that this is probably the saddest day of her life and she plans to put it behind her,” her lawyer Robert Fink said.
