Ryan Thomas is new bookies' favourite to win Celebrity Big Brother after 'deluge' of betting following Roxanne Pallett incident

Bookmakers Coral reported a "deluge" of betting on the ex soap actor after fans complained to Ofcom about the actress's reaction to their play fight.

Ryan has now overtaken Kirstie Alley as the punters' favourite to be named winner on the September 10 final night.

She is now second in the betting odds with Dan Osborne third.

Roxanne quit the Celebrity Big Brother this morning days after accusing Ryan of "punching her in the ribs".

Viewers had previously called for the ex-Emmerdale star to be "kicked out of the house", claiming she was "making a mockery of abuse victims"and flooded broadcasting watchdog Ofcom with 11,000  complaints about Roxanne's reaction to the pair's "play fight".

The former Emmerdale star, 35, told producers to remove Ryan from the house and Ryan, 34, was given a formal warning over the incident.

Roxanne later refused to sleep in the same bedroom as him, asking producers to put her up in a spare room as she felt "very uncomfortable".

She said: "A boy who's punched me repeatedly, deliberately… he punched me like a boxer punches a bag.

"There was no banter, it wasn't a joke…

The row even appeared to prompt Roxanne's representatives to delete her Twitter account, and her Wikipedia account was edited to call her a "pathetic human being".

In scenes that aired on Celebrity Big Brother on Friday night, Ryan was seen apologising to Roxanne over the incident.

"I honestly want you to know I was showing my affection," Ryan said, explaining what he was doing when he playfully boxed the side of her arm earlier in the week.

"Maybe it came across the wrong way, I just want to apologise. I want to put it to bed.

"I don't want it to affect other people in here," he added – as Roxanne became emotional.

"I don't want this to be our ending," Roxanne agreed at the time – before thanking Ryan for his apology.
