Demi Lovato Rehab Update, Doing Great in Treatment, Drug Addiction

We’ve officially passed the one-month mark of Demi Lovato‘s drug overdose, which put her in the hospital for about two weeks and ultimately inspired her to check back into rehab to fight for sobriety once again. The 26-year-old singer has been living in a treatment facility since early August and, according to a source, is on her way to recovery.

“She’s in recovery and doing great,” an insider tells People magazine.

The source does mention, however, that battling addiction is “a long road” and recovery has not been easy.

“She understands the severity of her overdose, and the recovery has been very challenging for her,” a second insider previously revealed to the mag. “She wants to be sober. She wants to get help. She understands that it will take a lot of work and commitment to stay healthy, but this is what she wants.”

Demi said in her first and only statement following the overdose, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” she continued. “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

The Disney Channel alum was able to get sober before and we know she’ll be able to do it again. Addiction is a constant battle, but we have faith!
