Jacksonville shooting suspect named as disgruntled gamer David Katz

The Jacksonville shooting suspect has been named by police as gamer David Katz.

Katz, 24, is reported to have crashed out of the Madden online gaming tournament in the Florida city and reacted by opening fire at fellow gamers and bystanders.

Three people, including the gunman, were killed and roughly 11 were injured, including one player shot in the thumb.

Katz’s online profile was ‘Bread’ or ‘RavensChamp’ and his Twitch profile, used to live stream players online, has been taken down since the shooting.

Police said at a news conference on Sunday: "There were three deceased at the scene – one of those being the suspect who took his own life.”

Jacksonville Landing, where the shooting took place, is an open-air marketplace with stores, bars and restaurants in downtown Jacksonville, Florida along the St Johns River.

Terrified bystanders fled the scene with officers finding them hidden in locked areas of the commercial complex.

One witness said he ran so fast after hearing gunshot he lost his shoes.

The man, who didn’t want to be identified, said: "I was just getting my pizza and then heard shots. It was scary."

Footage shows two young men playing in the Madden Championship Series when suddenly shots can be heard in the background.

The stream cuts out, but the audio is still live and people can be heard screaming out in pain in the background.

Drini Gjoka was shot in the thumb an professional gamer ‘Larry Legend’ was also hit at least three times.

His mother Sujeil Lopez was at her home in Tampa Bay when she got a call her son, who goes by Larry, 25, had been shot.

“I have to get to him. I am four hours away from him and I have to get to my son,” she told the New York Times.

“He was shot three times, once on the nipple, once on his hand and somewhere else."
