Derren Litten's new BBC One show will follow the lives of locals who meet in the boozer to swap gossip and sing classic pop hits.
The six-series called Scarborough was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival yesterday and filming is due to start next summer.
Controller, BBC Comedy Shane Allen said: "It's a real coup to have someone of Derren's great experience land a broad sitcom with a Northern comedy heart to it, it'll do Scarborough very proud."
Derren also tweeted about his big news.
He shared a picture of road sign to Scarborough and wrote: "Hola! Thanks for all your lovely messages re the announcement of my next show Scarborough with the BBC.
"I'm so excited about it, can't wait to get started…"
Jason Manford and Katherine Kelly are confirmed to star alongside Stephanie Cole, but no other casting details have been confirmed.
A broadcast date for the show also has yet to be released.
As well as creating Benidorm, Derren also co-wrote The Catherine Tate Show, and penned episodes of Not Going Out and Only Fools and Horses spin-off Green Green Grass.
He also wrote the remake episode of Are You Being Served? which aired in 2016.
