In an interview with Variety on the Red Carpet at the 2018 VMAs, singer Shawn Mendes confirmed that he wants to do more acting … and may cut back on touring to do so. Discussing what he would like to do, Shawn said “Anything … the right role is the right role. It’s not about the type of film.”
And what is Shawn’s timetable for finding the right role? The singer was pretty clear on that, “I want to do it soon.”
In an interview with I-D Magazine a year ago, Shawn revealed that his dream as a child was to become an actor. However, after auditioning for some Disney roles, he found that he got too nervous memorizing lines. At around the same time, his music began to blow up on social media, so he instead focused on developing his music career.
But it seems the old itch to act is still there. And the rumors that Shawn’s team has been out looking for scripts for him seem like they may be true.
