Coronation Street has revealed a first look at the moment that Peter Barlow comes face-to-face with a Tina McIntyre lookalike next week.
Peter has his loyalty tested when Carla Connor (Alison King) comes up with a sneaky way to check whether he’s a changed man or not.
Corrie fans recently saw Peter and Carla give into temptation after going into partnership at the factory again, although Carla later insisted that their kiss meant nothing.
Despite that rejection, Carla certainly seems to still have more than business on her mind where Peter is concerned next week.
When Carla prepares to take on new staff at Underworld and finds out that one of the applicants looks like Tina, she decides that Peter should be there for the interviews.
Later on, Carla watches intently as Peter quizzes the Tina lookalike, who’s actually called Carina.
Carla is totally convinced that Peter will be tempted by the new arrival – just like he was when he cheated on her with Tina a few years ago.
Will Peter fall into Carla’s trap, or prove he’s a changed character? Will he notice the resemblance to his dead ex-lover? Either way, surely Carla’s elaborate plan shows she still has feelings for Peter?
Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter, revealed: “Although Carla has made it clear that she is purely in business with Peter and nothing else, other people are very doubtful of the whole situation.
“Carla is keen to see if Peter is still easily swayed. She is interviewing for a new machinist and is struck by how much like Tina one of the applicants is, so she decides to let Peter interview her and see how he handles it. She is testing whether or not he has changed.
“He is a bit taken aback and doesn’t know it is a test, but will he pass the test? You will have to wait and see.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
