And this would seem to have been the fate of Love Island star Darylle Sargeant and X Factor/Dancing On Ice/ I’m A Celeb hunk Jake Quickenden.
The pair stunned fans when they went (very) public with their romance in July – locking lips during a day out in Leeds.
But the relationship has already burned out – with 24-year-old Love Island reject Darylle explaining their passionate romance is no more.
“We’re just friends,” the heavily tattooed beauty insisted to Star magazine weeks after photos of her snogging Jake went viral.
The reality babe confirmed they had tried to make a relationship work, but it just didn’t take off.
“We were seeing each other, but we’re both so busy at the minute and we live quite far away,” she said.
Darylle hasn’t completely turned her back on the idea of dating 29-year-old reality contestant Jake.
“We still speak and we’re still getting to know each other, but we’re not in a rush to go anywhere,” she said.
“He’s a lovely boy, we get on really well together. It would be nice, but we’ll see,” she teased.
Jake has seen his love life implode in the past year.
The failed singer was engaged to I’m A Celeb co-star Carl Fogarty’s daughter, Danielle, but the couple split in April just seven months after Jake popped the question.
It seems winning Dancing On Ice at the start of the year had influenced Jake’s decision to become a single man again.
“Jake and Danielle have been joined at the hip since her dad introduced them. But winning Dancing On Ice has meant Jake’s had other priorities,” a source told The Sun at the time.
“He’s been touring the country with [former Love Island winner] Kem [Cetinay] on the show’s tour and getting a lot of female attention, which hasn’t been easy for Danielle,” the source added.
Jake will no doubt be receiving even more female attention, however.
He is currently in the cast of male stripper show The Dreamboys – which is touring the UK until the end of the year.
“I’m learning how to dance, for a start. I thought I’d just be learning how to take my top off but I’m pretty good at that,” Jake laughed to The Express earlier this year.
