Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has released a two-part mini-documentary, titled Play.
The film clocks in at a total of 31-minutes, with the first several minutes featuring a short narration by the star, in which he introduces the project and speaks about his singular connection with his music.
“Most musicians are always chasing the next challenge – you never feel satisfied and you never feel like you’ve completely mastered the instrument that you’re playing,” he says.
In the 23-minute audio that follows, Grohl plays the same tune on seven different instruments, alternating between them after a complete rendition on each. He co-directed it along with writer and director, Mark Monroe, who collaborated with the band to write for their documentary miniseries titled Sonic Highways back in 2014.
A special audio version of the song may be purchased on vinyl on September 23 and is available for pre-order now.
