Celebrity Big Brother fans can breathe a sigh of relief: Channel 5 will air live feed episodes during the new series.
The mother of all reality shows is set to return later this month for perhaps its final outing on Channel 5 for a series dubbed Eye of the Storm, since all of this year’s housemates have been involved in media scandals.
Fans were initially disappointed that the Channel 5 schedule for launch night indicated that there wouldn’t be an hour of live feeds following Bit on the Side on launch night on August 16, as is traditional for the show.
Digital Spy reached out to Channel 5 and while a spokesperson confirmed that there will be no live feed on launch night, or the following night’s live show on Friday, August 17, it was stressed that live feed episodes will “return on eviction nights in subsequent weeks”.
“Note that Celebrity Big Brother launch night already features three hours of unmissable Big Brother content including an extended launch show and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side,” a Channel 5 representative added.
The full cast remains unconfirmed at this stage, but Meghan Markle’s sister Samantha has outed herself as one of the housemates moving into Britain’s Best Mansion later this summer.
Samantha has faced accusations that she’s capitalising on her sister’s famous name, but countered on Good Morning Britain last week: “First of all, people don’t know about me, I’ve worked in media most of my life and in broadcasting. So because my sister is suddenly royal isn’t grounds for me to stop doing all that.
“Let’s face it, we all have to survive, money makes the world go round. So if you want to call that cashing in, that’s fine.”
Celebrity Big Brother returns on Thursday, August 16 at 9pm on Channel 5.
