It’s a battle of the sexes! Tia Mowry revealed exclusively to Us Weekly how raising a daughter is different from her prior experience with her son.
“I feel like girls are so much smarter. I’ve got to be careful cause my son’s in the other room, but they’re really, really smart. Like, they basically know how to hold a bottle and with talking, like she literally said, ‘Hi!’ the other day,” the Sister, Sister alum, 40, told Us on Thursday, August 2, while discussing her partnership with Office Depot. “She’s so sweet. She’s doing great. It’s so much fun. I’m, like, obsessed with putting her in tutus.”
Mowry welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Cairo, with husband Cory Hardrict in May. The couple are already parents of 7-year-old Cree.
Meanwhile, big brother pitches in. “He is amazing. He has been such a big help,” she said. “He is always holding her, feeding her, grabbing things when I need them. So helpful with her for hours and playing with her, always wanting to walk her in her stroller or hold her. He’s just incredible.”
Cree, who attends school now, has no problem spending time apart from his mother. “He’s like, ‘Bye mom.’ I mean, like, literally throwing a peace sign. The one who has attachment problems is me!” Mowry noted. “He was staying with his grandma and grandpa when I was out of town. They took him for the weekend and I was literally on the verge of canceling. I literally almost didn’t go. I was, like, to my son, ‘I’m gonna miss you!’ My son was, like, ‘Mommy, it’s going to be OK.’ I was, like, ‘No, I’m gonna miss you!’”
The Game star suffers when she has to be away from her children, though she tries to keep them with her as much as possible while she’s working. “Do I feel guilty about being a working mom? Yes, of course,” she explained. “I don’t think that guilt ever goes away, but I think what helps is I want my kids to know that I work for what I have. If you work hard, then you can live your dreams and get what you want. So focusing on that, it kind of helps me get through it. But do I still have guilty feelings? Yes. That’s something I think that every mom lives with. But, you know, I want to be an example for my kids.”
In the meantime, Mowry relies on organization to keep her busy life on course: “I’m a mom of two and I’m a working mom, so event planners will definitely help with keeping up with your children’s schedule and also my schedule. Office Depot has these cool — I’m, like, obsessed with them — stickers that come along with event planners. It’s pretty cool.”
