Radio presenter, Cameron Daddo, 53, shares his day on a plate.
Cameron Daddo.
6.10am Lemon juice, ¼ teaspoon of pink rock salt and a splash of apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water. A cup of tea.
7.30am After a 1½ kilometre ocean swim and taking my youngest child to the bus stop, I drink another tea.
8.30am A long black coffee as I prepare for my radio shift and record station promos.
10am Three strips of bacon, two eggs fried in the bacon fat, tomatoes, three slices of black sourdough and a flat white coffee.
5pm To unwind after spending the day working on a new pilot program I co-created, I hit 100 golf balls at a range followed by a cup of tea and a handful of nuts.
6.30pm Guacamole, tomatoes, black beans, barbecue beef, cilantro and lettuce inside corn taco shells. For dessert, chilli dark chocolate.
8pm During my Mellow Music radio shift, I have four herbal teas.
Dr Jo McMillian says…
Top marks for… The long overnight fast, for giving your digestive system a break and encouraging your body to use stored energy.
If you keep eating like this you'll… Reduce the diversity of your microbiota (bugs living in your gut) because you are eating meat at every meal and not enough vegies or fibre. Processed meats such as bacon have been identified as potential carcinogens.
Why don't you try… Swapping black sourdough for wholegrain. The former is white bread with a little charcoal added and is a fad without any evidence of benefit. Ditch the acidic, salty water first thing – it will only erode your tooth enamel – and swap the bacon for mushrooms and spinach. Add a side salad to lunch.
Cameron Daddo hosts Mellow Music every night from 8pm on smoothfm 95.3.
