Trump rips Mika Brezinski for ‘butt boy’ dig against Mike Pompeo

President Trump on Thursday lashed out at “Morning Joe” co-host and longtime critic Mika Brezinski after she called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a “butt boy” for defending the Saudi crown prince accused of killing a journalist.

“If it was a Conservative that said what ‘crazed’ Mika Brzezinski stated on her show yesterday, using a certain horrible term, that person would be banned permanently from television,” he wrote in a two-tweet post.

“She will probably be given a pass, despite their terrible ratings. Congratulations to @RichardGrenell, our great Ambassador to Germany, for having the courage to take this horrible issue on!” continued the president, whose own penchant for name calling is well established.

Grennell had criticized Brezinski — who quickly apologized for her remarks Wednesday — for using the term, which is considered a slur against gays.

“[A]ccepting apologies is important. We all fail. But I don’t see that you’ve actually apologized to gays? Your words demean, mock and therefore try to control whole groups by minimizing our humanity. @morningmika,” Grennell tweeted.

On Wednesday, Brezinski slammed Pompeo for his repeated defense of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom the CIA concluded ordered the torture and murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a US-based journalist who had been critical of the Saudis’ repressive monarchy.

“I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care,” Brzezinski said on the air Wednesday morning.

“But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care, right now? Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard, when he appeared on ‘Fox & Friends,’ is that a patriot speaking, or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy? I’m dead serious. I’m asking, Are these the words of a patriot?”

After a viewer criticized her use of the term, she apologized on Twitter.

“Totally agree with you -SUPER BAD choice of words .. I should have said “water boy”… like for football teams or something like that.. apologize to @SenatorDurbin too! SO SORRY!” she wrote, mentioning Durbin because he was a guest on the show.

Brzezinski was absent from the MSNBC program Thursday, which a spokesman said was a planned day off to deal with a family matter.

Trump has often criticized Brezinski and her husband and co-host, Joe Scarborough, for their unflattering coverage of his administration.

In June 2017, the president described Brzezinski as “low I.Q. Crazy Mika” and claimed on Twitter posts that she had been “bleeding badly from a face-lift” during a party at Mar-a-Lago.
