A CHILLY start to Thursday 18 October will give way to dry and sunny weather in most parts of the UK. Southeast England will see more clouds at times as Northwestern Scotland is expected to get breeze and the odd shower later.

Friday through to Sunday will establish a north/south split throughout with fine and dry conditions across the south, but breezier with rain or showers at times in the north.

NEXT week kicks off with a dry and fine Monday for many parts of the UK after a chilly start with the possibility of frost. Parts of Scotland will get spells of rain and windy conditions will prevail across the north that could turn into occasional gales in the far north of Scotland.

Conditions will be changeable through to Wednesday across northern areas with spells of wet and windy weather scattered with brighter and showery breaks. The south should generally stay drier and brighter, particularly in central and southwestern areas of England and Wales.

Temperatures to vary around average by day with the possibility of frost or patchy fog overnight where skies are clear.
