This four-bedroom home is hiding an incredible secret – and it can be yours for £370k

Owner Alan Cardwell, 63, had a boozer and a stage added to the gigantic property when it was designed by architects.

But now the company boss is planning his retirement – and has put the house with a twist on the market for £370k.

The bar is part of a sound-proofed ‘fun zone’ in the massive villa in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, which also has a juke box, arcade games, pool table, disco lights and a cellar.

Mr Cardwell, who owns a chemical manufacturing business, built the house in 1997 and lived there with wife Linda, 61, and two sons Grant and Kevin.

He used the entertainment room for staff parties and also held annual bashes for friends and neighbours to watch the Scottish Cup final.

He said: "The house has been great for us and the disco room is certainly unique.

"When we had it built it was ideal for my two boys because it was somewhere safe for them to socialise when they were younger.

"I held staff nights out in it and my son's work also had a party there for more than 40 people.

The chemicals boss said it would be “hard to leave” but hopes “another family will have the same happy memories and good times living here.”

The enormous house also has a formal lounge and dining room, a family bathroom and a modern kitchen with appliances as well as a WC and utility room.

Three of the four bedrooms include fitted wardrobes – and there’s also a family room to relax in.

The master bedroom boasts an en-suite four-piece bathroom with featured step-up round tub.

Mr Cardwell also used the disco room to play gigs in with his part-time wedding band.

The bass player said: "The band played in there for parties and we had some spectacular nights. They were great days."

He added that he'd be happy to hand over most of the pub equipment to the buyer,  for a "guaranteed good night in."

However, anyone not fond of a tipple need not fear.

Estate agents AB Properties, who are marketing the house, said the ‘pub space’ could also be converted to a granny flat or workshop.
