Convicted taxi cab rapist John Worboys is said to have pocketed almost £200,000 from the sale of his flat, where he had starred in amateur porn.

The sex offender had kept hold of the property for more than ten years after he had been jailed for a string of sex attacks.

However, as Worboys prepares for his release from prison, he decided to cash in on the £227,500 property he owns in Dorset.

After serving nine years in prison, Worboys had hoped to offload the two-bedroom flat in Poole Dorset for around £227,500, but had to take a hit of £32,000.

Despite this the black cab rapist still pocketed over £195,000, in addition to the funds he had built up elsewhere. At the time of his arrest, he owned a £2 million string of other properties.

Land registry documents confirm the sale of the flat in Branksome Park was completed in June.

Worboys (pictured) had also worked as a porn actor and stripper under pseudonyms such as ‘Terry the Minder’, ‘Paul’, and ‘Tony’

A source told the Mirror: ‘Worboys is a wealthy man who has been sitting on a substantial nest egg.

‘The fact he has added to his wealth will make it even worse for his victims who were given a pittance in compensation when he was convicted.’

The Sunday Mirror had exposed the rapist’s bolthole, from which he made money renting out to the makers of sleazy sex films.

The existence of the sex den was revealed by a means test denying him legal aid when some of his victims successfully contested the decision to free him earlier this year.

61-year-old Worboys, who has changed his surname to Radford, will have to dip into his money to hire lawyers to put his case.

He was convicted of assaults on 12 women in 2008 but police believe he could have had as many as 200 victims in London and the Bournemouth area.

Who is John Worboys?

John Worboys, also known as the black cab rapist, is a serial sex attacker who also starred in amateur porn.

Worboys was convicted of 19 serious sex crimes, but it has been alleged that he may have abused over 100 victims over his 13-year career as a London taxi driver.

In 2009, Worboys was jailed for a minimum of eight years.

Born in Middlesex in 1957, his earlier jobs included security guard and milkman. But he later went on to work as a porn actor and stripper under pseudonyms such as ‘Terry the Minder’, ‘Paul’, and ‘Tony’. After leaving the adult entertainment industry in 2000, he became a black cab driver in London.

The first police reports regarding Worboys came in 2002.

His tactic was to pick up women in his taxi late at night, and tell them that he was celebrating after winning a large amount of money, using a bag of cash to uphold his story. He would then give the women champagne laced with temazepam (which he’d been prescribed for his own sleeping problems).

Worboys would then rape or sexually assault the victims, some of whom had no recollection of the exact events due to the sedatives.

Over a period of six years, 14 women came to the police with similar stories, but the authorities did not link the cases at the time. Worboys was arrested on suspicion of raping a 19-year-old student in 2007, but was released on bail after police found that the student had kissed Worboys when leaving his cab.

It wasn’t until 2008 when three women came forward with similar accusations that police connected the dots and recognised that they were dealing with a serial rapist.

In March 2009, he was convicted of one rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted assault and 12 drugging charges committed from July 2007 to February 2008.

He received an indeterminate sentence requiring he serve at least eight years, with judges saying he would not be released until it was confirmed he no longer posed a threat to women.
