Queens apartment blaze kills teen, injures mom and neighbor

A teenager was killed and her mother injured after a fire tore through their Queens apartment building on Wednesday night, cops said.

Lamonies Smith, 16, was at her home on Merrick Boulevard near Ursina Road in St. Albans when the flames ripped through her building at about 8:30 p.m., authorities said.

Smith and her 56-year-old mother were rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals-Queens, where she was pronounced dead and her mother was listed in critical condition, police said.

Their 76-year-old neighbor was also injured in the blaze, cops said. She was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation by FDNY fire marshals, authorities said.
