Police and residents searching for boy ‘after belongings found near canal’

Police and residents in Nuneaton are searching for a missing boy after reports his belongings were found near a canal.

Emergency services, including fire crews, have been seen around the town centre this morning.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police told CoventryLive : "I can confirm that we are looking for a missing boy".

However they said ‘they were not in a position’ to identify the missing boy or give his age.

The search for the boy was started before 9am and the helicopter remains roaming the skies and has been seen close to George Eliot Hospital.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the search has been centred around the canal as some of the missing boy’s belongings have been found there, according to Coventry Live.

Police cars and vans have been seen close to the Cock and Bear bridge, near to a stretch of the canal.
