Mum, 46, dies of mystery illness just 12 days after falling ill with flu-like symptoms

Lesley Dinsdale, 46, was on holiday with her family when she got sick – with her condition quickly deteriorating.

Her family, of Wawne, Yorkshire, have now been left grappling for answers as they confront Christmas without the beloved mum.

Husband Robert, 60, said he was "shocked, devastated and angry" after his wife's death on November 16.

He said: "We didn't get a proper chance to say goodbye.

"Tragedy happens all the time in life, but it's something you never think will happen to you, especially after it just came completely out of the blue.

"Lesley fought amazingly but just didn't manage to pull through, despite the best efforts of the staff at the hospital who were phenomenal and left no stone unturned in trying to find out what was wrong with Lesley in order to try and treat her."

He said initial tests at the Hull Royal Infirmary established Lesley did not have an infection or a virus after falling ill during a family holiday to Glaisdale, North Yorkshire.

An inquest is needed to establish the mum's cause of death.

Robert said he was trying to stay positive for the couple's two children children, Isaac, nine, and Olivia, 12.

Robert married Lesley 13 years ago, paying tribute to her for her "infectious smile".

He said: "Her smile was infectious and her laugh would just light up a room – Lesley never had a bad word for anyone and would do anything for anyone.

"Lesley was a very strong and independent lady and great at anything arty farty.

"She loved her kids and she and I loved each other very much."

Lesley ran a business "Made By Lesley" which helped turn treasured clothing of people who had passed away into keepsakes, like bears and cushions.

Tributes have poured out for the motivated mum, with one saying: "Lesley was a wonderful warm hearted person, who helped many people with her wonderful talent. Deepest sympathy to all your family."

Another added: "What devastating news, I am so so sorry for your loss, Lesley was so kind and helpful for people in devastating situations, my heart goes out to you and all your family, for a special lady that gave a little spark back to ours."

A third added: "So so sorry to hear this sad news. Such a kind, helpful and caring lady."

A funeral for Lesley will be held on Friday.

The family has asked mourners to make a donation to a charity of their choice at the end of the service.
