Moment quick-thinking schoolboy swoops in to stop 'shoplifter' fleeing by putting her buggy brakes on as Sports Direct staff confront her

Dramatic footage shows a woman being accused of nicking goods from Sports Direct as a crowd of pedestrians watch on.

The lad, wearing his school uniform, can then be seen stomping on the brake lever of the irate woman's buggy — stopping a potential getaway.

Filmed last Wednesday, the video begins by showing crowds confronting the woman outside the shop on Oldham High Street, Gtr Manchester.

They shout "don't let her get away with it" as she is cornered by two members of Sports Direct staff.

But the woman refuses to go with them and begins to shout.

At one point she tries to steer her buggy away from the confrontation before the crowd block her path.

One man can be heard shouting: “Don’t let her get away with it man — call the police.”

It is then that the young lad dashes into view — sticking out his foot to slam on the buggy brake.

The alleged shoplifter then screams: “No! I buy first”, before a bystander shouts: “No you did not buy. You stole!”

Another man can be in the crowd also shouts “Don’t let her get away with it!”

The woman then appears to panic as she hands over a bag of supposedly stolen items — telling the Sports Direct employee: "OK, you take this one. This one for you ok”.

But pointing at other items the member of staff replies: "They’re not yours either. You didn’t pay for them”.

The footage has racked up over 160,000 views since it was uploaded online yesterday.

Praising the schoolboy's actions, social media user Mark Waddington said: “The kid locking the pram wheel is the real hero here. He’ll go far. Good kid.”

Kayleigh Milloy added: “Shout out to the little lad putting the brakes on her pram”.

And Kelly Jordan wrote: “Bless that little boy who put on the brake so she couldn’t get away”.

The Sun Online has contacted Greater Manchester Police and Sports Direct for comment.
