Lady Gaga apologises for speculating over Zombie Boy's death as his family claim it was an accident

The family of the model, 32, real name Rick Genest, have hit out at speculation that he took his own life saying they believe he accidentally fell to his death.

Following his passing earlier this week, singer Gaga, also 32, tweeted that his “suicide” is “beyond devastating” while urging others with mental health problems to seek help.

But the Grammy winner, whose Born This Way music video Genest appeared in, has since deleted those posts and issued an apology for jumping to conclusions.

She tweeted yesterday: “Out of respect for Rick's family, Rick & his legacy I apologize if I spoke too soon as there was no witnesses or evidence to support any conclusion for the cause of his death.

"I in no way meant to draw an unjust conclusion. My deepest condolences to his entire family and friends."

The Poker Face songtress added: "The art we made was sacred to me and I was emotional, he was an incredible artist and his art and heart will live on.

“Rest In Peace you beautiful soul."

Genest’s manager Karim Leduc told PEOPLE that his family do not believe he took his own life and said people speculating on the cause of death was “disappointing”.

Zombie Boy plunged to this death from the balcony at the back of his home in Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal after telling his girlfriend he was "going for a cigarette".

According to TMZ, police told them that Genest had jumped and that paramedics rushed to the scene and performed CPR, but could not revive him.

The celeb news site also spoke to Leduc who said the heavily-tattooed star would often smoke on his balcony and lean back on a railing while doing so.

Relatives think this habit caused him to topple over.
