Drink drive stay-at-home mum laughs as she walks away from court after dodging unpaid work because 'she'd just get a sicknote'

Armani Nicholson, 29, was fined £120 after the court heard she had a history of handing sicknotes into the probation service.

The stay-at-home mum, who pockets £900-a-month in benefits, even protested at the fine, asking "How will I pay it with money I'm getting?"

Magistrates chose to fine Nicholson instead of giving her unpaid work after a probation worker said: "I've no doubt she will be straight off to pick up a sicknote."

But she seemed delighted as she left South Tyneside Magistrates' Court, banned from the roads for the second time in four years, Chronicle Live reported.

The court heard Nicholson had been on a night out with friends when she fled a club about 2.30am in September after another group was kicked out for causing a "fracas".

Despite having been on the night out, Nicholson grabbed her keys to drive to her home in Darlington, County Durham.

She was pulled over by police near Whitburn.

But the mum, who claims she can't work due to back pain, refused a breath test due to her "anxiety" after she was taken back to the station.

She was charged with failing to supply a specimen and driving without insurance.

Nicholson was previously banned from driving after a drink-driving offence in 2014.

She was again banned from driving and given a community order.

She was fined £120, along with costs.
