Boys, 10, quizzed by cops after toy tractor thrown off bridge left grandad with wound so deep his SKULL was exposed

Alan Taylor's skull was exposed and he lost almost two pints of blood after the toy came crashing down onto his head.

The 69-year-old was walking his dog on September 23 in Hemlington, Middlesborough, when he walked through an underpass.

According to the pensioner, he glanced up and "saw a young face" and then the next minute blood was pouring down his head.

He described the pain as "a bomb going off", and that the attack "could have killed him".

Two Good Samaritans rushed Alan, from Limlington, to hospital where he received 11 stitches.

A Cleveland Police spokesman confirmed two 10-year-old boys have been interviewed over the incident.

Speaking after his ordeal, Alan said: "The doctor and my son said you could see my skull, I had to go through the pain of no anaesthetic, it was agony getting the stitches in.

"The first thought was how am I going to get home?

"Two witnesses who saw it all said whoever did it had it planned because they were waiting on one side, have seen me go underneath, ran to the other side and, as I was coming out, threw it over the top."

Alan, who lives with his wife Linda, 67, reported the horrifying incident to the police.

Alan believed the kids who pushed the toy were aged between six and eight.

He said: "To be honest if you can't punish the children, you should punish the parents.

"That age is just unbelievable, I think watching videos and things they don’t realise what they're doing.

"They don't realise that that could have killed someone, if it had landed on my dog it would have killed her."

Cleveland Police are investigating.
