Heartwarming moment animal lover buys water for homeless man’s dog after he spots the animal panting in a car park as its owner slept

  • The friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier laps up the water as soon as it is poured  

This is the heartwarming moment a good Samaritan buys water for a homeless man’s panting dog who was sat outside in the scorching heat. 

Calvin Braithwaite, 29, spotted the parched pooch – called Trixie – looking distressed in a car park while her owner slept next to her.

Mr Brathwaite, who is from Luton, decided to help the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and get her some refreshing cold water from a nearby shop.

The friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Trixie comes straight over to him and wants to know what’s inside the blue carrier bag

Mr Braithwaite, who is a photographer, purchased a £1.50 bottle of water from a local shop and a box of sweets to use as a bowl for the thirsty dog

He said: ‘I saw that the dog was panting and looked like she was hot.

‘There was no water out for her and her owner appeared to be homeless so I thought I’d help them out.’

In the video filmed by Mr Braithwaite, a group of people can be seen walking straight past the homeless man, completely oblivious to the panting dog.

Calvin, who is a photographer, decided to buy a £1.50 bottle of water from a local shop and a box of sweets to use as a bowl.

He said: ‘As soon as I put the water in front of the dog, she started lapping it up.

‘Her owner was doing all he could to look after her, but she was clearly overheating.

‘People don’t realise how dangerous heat can be for dogs.’

Trixie can be seen lapping up the water as Mr Braithwaite speaks to her owner on video. He said: ‘Her owner was doing all he could to look after her, but she was clearly overheating’

The homeless man thanks Mr Braithwaite for his kindness and the water for Trixie. The good Samaritan said ‘in heat like this, people need to be sure to take extra care with animals. I’m just glad that I could help out’

As he fills the makeshift bowl for the dog, Mr Braithwaite can be heard saying ‘hello beautiful’ to the dog and the homeless man thanks him for the drink. 

Mr Braithwaite tells him not to worry, but to thank Trixie for looking after him and that she looks healthy. 

He said: ‘He kept saying thank you and how grateful he was. I gave him the rest of the water and left.

‘In heat like this, people need to be sure to take extra care with animals.

‘They can die because of it so you need to be super careful. I’m just glad that I could help out.’
