An acid attack survivor is suing her stalker ex-boyfriend for €250,000 after she was left permanently scarred when he targeted her in the street.

Vanessa Münstermann, who lives in Hannover, Germany, has given herself the English nickname ‘Two Face’ and had the words tattooed on her chest.

The attacker, who was identified in German coverage only as Daniel F., was jailed for 12 years in 2016 after ambushing her and throwing sulphuric acid in her face.

A lawyer for the 33-year-old attacker said his client could not afford to pay the quarter of a million euros if the court found against him, NDR reported.

Today a German civil court in Hannover acknowledged the amount being claimed was high by German standards but said it was ‘appropriate’ given the ‘extreme act with extreme consequences’.

The judge said Ms Münstermann could have died if she had swallowed any of the industrial cleaning product which was thrown in her face, according to the newspaper HAZ.

Her lawyer Andreas Hüttl said the 29-year-old was no longer able to work as a beautician because of the damage the attack had caused to her eyesight.

Describing her injuries to the court in 2016, Ms Münstermann said she one of her ears had almost corroded away and she had only 10 per cent of the sight left in one eye.

She said one of her nostrils was shut and she was left with painful scars all over her face, and she had to be treated in an induced coma after the attack.

The attacker had admitted to the court that he had felt humiliated by the woman and wanted to ‘make her ugly’.

A court spokesman reportedly said that the defendant’s application for legal aid had been rejected because of a ‘low chance of success’.

It is also alleged that the perpetrator had written ‘insulting letters’ to his victim while he was in prison.

Daniel F.’s parents reportedly offered up to €100,000 to settle the case but Ms Münstermann said she could not accept the ‘hush money’.

Earlier this year Ms Münstermann revealed she had become a mother after giving birth to a baby girl.
