X Factor’s Six Chair Challenge fails to excite fans as ratings continue to drop

The X Factor’s ratings are continuing to fall – and not even Saturday’s first Six Chair Challenge enticed viewers into watching.

Viewing figures for the ITV show dropped to 4.6million last night – down 400,000 on last week and last year’s numbers.

This may not come as a surprise to many viewers, who heavily criticised the change in editing format last night .

Instead of focusing on one group at a time, the edit kept cutting between them.

This led some fans to "switch off" as they struggled to stomach the new layout of the show.

One tweeted: "This editing is pathetic #XFactor."

While another commented: "Had to give up watching #xfactor, the editing is really bad… Why are they switching from one group of acts to another group of acts so quickly with the six chair challenge?! Really hard to keep up with who is through and who isn’t."

A third remarked: " It’s been 15 minutes and I’m turning off. Nobody is humble, and this editing is so cringey and everyone has been given a seat just for drama. Ugh what’s happened. #XFactor."

Another tweeted: "tonight’s @TheXFactor is the worst editing, pacing & structuring I’ve seen on television in a LONG time. tempted to just turn it off as it’s such a train wreck! #xfactor #xfactor2018."
