When is Britain by Boat on Channel 5?

Britain by Boat is a new series that kicked off on Channel 5 on November 23 at 8pm on Channel 5.

It is comprised of four hour-long episodes and continues TONIGHT (Friday, December 14) at 8pm.

The programme will see John Sergeant and Michael Buerk set sail on the 50ft yacht Bonaventure.

The challenges they face include eating oysters gracefully and navigating the busy Thames estuary.

Who is hosting Britain by Boat?

Britian by Boat is hosted by journalists Michael Buerk, 72, and John Sergeant, 74.

Michael is well known for his 1984 BBC news report on the Ethiopian famine which inspired the Band Aid charity single.

He later worked as an anchor for the BBC Nine O'Clock News and BBC News at Ten.

John has worked as a political correspondent for the BBC and ITN.

In 2008 he competed in Strictly Come Dancing and is a reporter on The One Show.

What is Britain by Boat about?

Britain by Boat follows Michael and John aka the "grumpy old sailors" as they make their way around the British coast on a yacht.

The series will see them travel to Essex, Portsmouth and Cowes on the Isle of Wight among other places.

In the second episode they visit the HMS Victory – which was the specialist subject Michael chose when he won Mastermind.
