This wonderful documentary ends tonight in a moving, surprising and uplifting reveal. I was only able to guess one of the "mad" guests – and even then, not through any particular behaviour. The rest were a thoroughly relatable hodgepodge of flawed humanity, some of who had simply found themselves at some point in their lives failing to cope. It's a real "There but for the grace of God…" moment. It's also a reminder of how important quality mental health care is.

SURVIVOR: DAVID V GOLIATH

Not unlike our own Champions v Contenders, this round of the original Survivor (season 37 and counting!) pits the super-successful against the strugglers. And if at first the optimistic suggestion is made that the Davids come equipped with secret weapons, including resilience – and that in Survivor, "it's anyone's game" – initially the Goliaths get the best of it. But as Survivor fans well know, hubris so often comes before a fall…

EAR BUDS: THE PODCASTING DOCUMENTARY

The internet – especially social media – has become a bit of a cesspit but there's one pocket where it continues to fulfil its early promise of connecting, educating and entertaining people in all corners of the world: the podcast. This cheerful love-letter to the phenomenon, put together by podcasters the Comedy Film Nerds, Graham Elwood and Chris Mancini, explores just why podcasting has exploded. The words "conversation" and "community" come up a lot.
