Criminal lawyer Jerry Hayes joked their relationship was similar to a married couple's after witnessing them argue in the break.
He told them: "I thought you just did this for the telly.
"You two should get married, no sex and lots of rows."
An amused Piers then quipped: "Shall we do it the other way around?"
Hopefully his wife Celia Walden wasn't up early enough to hear the cheeky comment.
The pair had been bickering about plus-size model Tess Holliday who featured on the cover of Cosmo.
Piers said: "Susanna, even off camera, is still trying to insist this is great and we should all be celebrating it."
His irritated co-host replied: "I just think we should celebrate acceptance of the difference in women's bodies.
"We should not fat shame thinking that will lead someone to suddenly lose all the weight you've decided, in your medical opinion, is healthy."
Piers replied: "It's not my medical opinion. Every single doctor in the world will say if someone is 5ft 3ins and 300lb is morbidly obese."
Earlier today Susanna insisted she has never had Botox, but admits she wouldn't rule it out in the future.
