According to reports, staff at Buckingham Palace were made aware that she would not be attending and will have to reschedule.

The Strictly contestant previously said she was “delighted” to receive the honour when her name was announced over the summer.

“It’s hugely unexpected – this honour came totally out of the blue,” she said in a piece for the BBC. “I had to read the letter a couple of times before it even started to sink in.

She added: “Even though I have an MBE now, I don’t think it will really change anything in my future.

“It’s nice to have the recognition that people outside of your own circle are familiar with your work, but I’m going to keep shining a light on some of the amazing people that make up our world.”

Stacey and partner Kevin Clifton are due to dance a Foxtrot to Jeff Beck’s ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining’ on tomorrow evening’s (October 13) Strictly.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 6.40pm on BBC One.
