Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas is joining This Morning

Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas is joining This Morning to front a new segment in the new year – and it goes without saying that it’s a 10 from us!

Shirley’s new gig will be titled ‘Matchmaker Mountain’, and was announced on the ITV show today (August 15) by Shirley herself.

I’m joining This Morning and on a mission to help you find love!” Shirley explained via video message from Los Angeles.

“As a woman in my fifties – I know that the idea of dating later in life can be scary. But that’s where I can help! If you feel that love has left you marooned on an island of loneliness, get in touch and take part.

“I’ll help you climb to the heights of passion as you look for love on Matchmaker Mountain! Coming soon to This Morning!”

That’s right, This Morning is getting stuck into making its own version of Love Island with Shirley Ballas as host as she plays matchmaker to singletons over the age of 50 and whisks the couples away to a mountainside retreat in a bid to help them find love.

If you’re over 50 and interested in taking part (or under 50, and know someone who fits the profile) you can get in touch with This Morning and explain why you should be chosen, and what you’re looking for in a partner now.

Previously, Shirley has shared her thoughts on who’d be an interesting addition to the Strictly line-up this year, with the 57-year-old pointing at a certain Good Morning Britain presenter as her pick.

“I would love to see Piers Morgan do a turn on this year’s show,” she revealed. “I’ve told bosses that he would be a great signing. I mean, who doesn’t love a good roasting of a weekend?”

If Piers does take Shirley up on that, he’ll be joining the likes of the already-announced line-up Vick Hope, YouTuber Joe Sugg, Steps star Faye Tozer, Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules and charity campaigner Katie Piper.

And, for even more Strictly / This Morning news, Ruth Langsford also confirmed on today’s show the next celebrity contestant will be announced on This Morning tomorrow (August 16).

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year, whilst This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
