Strictly Come Dancing fans vow not to vote for Susannah Constantine due to her love of hunting

Some Strictly Come Dancing fans have vowed not to vote for Susannah Constantine over her stance on hunting.

The former What Not to Wear star caused controversy in 2014 after sharing pictures of her daughter Cece smeared with blood and holding a dead duck.

Defending the story at the time, she wrote in The Mail on Sunday: “To [Cece], a country girl, shooting food for the table is a natural part of rural life.

“My only regret is that the fuss brought about something I’ve always tried to avoid. I’ve never wanted to include my family in my professional life – and never have done – but sadly [Cece’s] picture was only deemed to be newsworthy because I’ve been on TV.”

She continued: “The one thing I’d do differently is not post the photo on Instagram.

“It was naive of me to think it would stop there, and naive of readers to believe a picture speaks a thousand words when it camouflages the sportsmanship, conservation, habitat management and regulation that lies behind all country sports.”

Here’s what fans of the show have had to say about it (and be warned – the tweets below feature the duck image in question):

“#Strictly star Susannah Constantine is a proud hunter. She kills animals for fun. She finds it relaxing. Please don’t vote for her. Hunting has no place in society in 2018. (That’s her daughter after her first kill, in the second photo.) @bbcstrictly,” one viewer wrote.

“For those who watch Strictly and are against animal cruelty remember that Susannah Constantine supports fox hunting and takes her young child out shooting ducks,” another said.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday (September 29) at 6.30pm on BBC One.
