Reese Witherspoon Will Guest Star in ‘The Mindy Project’ Final Season

The ‘Big Little Lies’ star and Mindy Kaling’s ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ co-star is set to make a guest appearance in one of the 10 final episodes of the Hulu show.

“The Mindy Project” will end after season 6, but it is poised to wrap up in a big way. Reese Witherspoon is joining BFF Mindy Kaling in the upcoming new season of the Hulu show.

Mindy announced the exciting news on her Instagram account as she shared a set photo featuring her and Reese in a cave. Mindy’s “A Wrinkle in Time” co-star was seen looking gorgeous in a red dress. “Our latest #themindyproject guest star is the only woman i would want to be trapped in a cave with. (This is weirdly the second cave we have acted in together!) @reesewitherspoon,” wrote Mindy in the caption.

Reese, meanwhile, took to her Twitter account to share her excitement as well as tease her upcoming TV gig. The Emmy nominee tweeted, “Is it possible to have too much fun on set? Exciting cave-dwelling things to come with @mindykaling and #TheMindyProject!” alongside a picture of the script.

Reese is set to make an appearance in one of the final 10 episodes of the comedy. However, it remains to be seen what character that the “Legally Blonde” actress will play. “The Mindy Project” marks Reese’s latest TV appearance after “Big Little Lies”, on which she portrayed Madeline Mackenzie, though she is now developing a new TV project which also stars Jennifer Aniston.

The sixth and final season of “The Mindy Project” will see Mindy’s Mindy Lahiri divorcing from her new husband Ben (Bryan Greenberg). “It’s getting a little sentimental and sad actually,” the soon-to-be mom star spoke of the last month of shooting. “We had our last read through [this week],” costume designer Sal Perez later added at that time. “I read the final script a couple of times, and I cried for an hour afterwards.”
