Piers Morgan's son Spencer rushed to hospital after suffering spider bite in Antigua

The newsman's eldest son, 25, spent a week under the care of doctors amid fears he was suffering from sepsis.

Piers, 53, shared a picture of Spencer lying in a hospital bed in Turkey, revealing he had fallen sick from a bite he got during the family's recent holiday in Antigua.

The Good Morning Britain host thanked doctors for looking after his boy and said he's now on the road to recovery.

He wrote: "One small spider bite in Antigua.. led to one long week of near-Sepsis hell in Turkey.

"Many thanks to all the brilliant staff at Letoon Hospital in Fethiye for taking care of my eldest son @spencer__morgan so well.

"Thankfully now on road to recovery."

Spencer, who travelled to Turkey after the holiday in Antigua with his family, has also shared a message about his medical emergency, revealing he has now been discharged from hospital.

He shared a snap of himself standing outside the building on his way out.

Spencer captioned the picture: "Scared of spiders? Am I f*** #ChristHasRisenAgain."

Piers revealed Spencer was battling "near sepsis" due to the bite.

Sepsis can be triggered by an infection in any part of the body and, without swift treatment, can lead to multiple organ failure and death.
