Now you have every reason to be scared of clowns. Following a bunch of promos focusing on scary clowns, “American Horror Story: Cult” releases another promo which still heavily features men sporting white makeup and red noses.
Toward the end, the video shares new actual footage from the upcoming seventh season. It sees Sarah Paulson’s Ally who wakes up in the night to the sound of heavy breathing. “Ivy, did you hear that?” she asks, possibly referring to Alison Pill’s Ivy Mayfair-Richards who is supposed to be sharing a bed with Ally.
When she turns around though, what she sees is the face of a clown, prompting her to scream in fear and flee the bedroom. “This is our time,” someone spookily says in voiceover.
Paulson previously spilled the beans that her character Ally is married to Pill’s Ivy. Co-creator Ryan Murphy also revealed that Ally and Evan Peters’ Kai would be a couple, which means Ally is a bisexual and is involved in a love triangle with Ivy and Kai.
The new installment of the horror anthology series will kick off on the election night, “illuminating and highlighting people who don’t have a voice in our culture — people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away.” The first trailer highlights the aftermath of Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton.
Billie Lourd portrays Winter Anderson, Colton Haynes plays Detective Samuels, Billy Eichner stars as Harrison Wilton, Cheyenne Jackson is Dr. Rudy Vincent, and Lena Dunham stars as Valerie Solanas, the woman who attempted to assassinate Andy Warhol. Other actors in the cast ensemble include Emma Roberts, Adina Porter, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham and Leslie Grossman.
It’s recently rumored that singer Cher would also appear in the seventh season, but there’s no word on her role.
“AHS: Cult” will kick off September 5 on FX.
