Miley Cyrus Struggles to Identify Her Own Hit in 'Name That Song' Challenge on 'The Tonight Show'

It’s harder than it looks to name a song being played by one instrument at a time, but when it’s your own song?

If there’s one thing music artists become familiar with through the course of their career, it’s their own songs, and yet Miley Cyrus took way too long to identify one of her own hits in a game with Jimmy Fallon Thursday night.

Granted, this wasn’t one of her most recent hits, but considering that she’s probably played it literally hundreds of time in concert and heard it a ton more on the radio, you’d think she’d be able to pick up its signature beat and rhythm almost instantly.

It all went down during a game of "Name That Song" on "The Tonight Show." And Miley was all fired up for this one, after she felt somewhat robbed by Jimmy during the first round.

Nevertheless, they were both stumped when The Roots started performing one of Miley’s biggest hits one instrument at a time. Finally, she did buzz in and identify it as "Party in the U.S.A," but Fallon still wasn’t impressed.

"It took you that long to get that one?" he laughed. "I wish I had a number one song they could play."

"That I don’t recognize," she reminded him.

It’s actually a lot harder than it seems, even from the comfort of your own living room. We can only imagine the added pressure of playing it in front of a live studio audience and against the most competitive game player on television.

Miley even went so far as to accuse Jimmy of cheating in the game, but the truth of the matter is that they were pretty evenly matched heading into the final round, and boy was that song a wild blast from the past?

And after playing along, we think this would make an incredibly fun game (though we imagine the music licensing would make it a nightmare for anyone). Still, the rising tension, the frustration when you’ve almost got it and the fear that your opponent is going to get there before you. It’s all there!
