But after her untimely death in 2011, her ex-husband Blake was blamed by Amy’s fans – and her own father, Mitch, for her tragic demise.
Nine years on, the Rehab singer’s ex-husband shocked fans with his appearance on Good Morning Britain.
The 36-year-old – who was married to Amy from 2007 to 2009 – said he didn't think her father, Mitch, should be launching a hologram tour of the singer, saying: "I object to every sort of opportunity that's been made.”
But fans were quick to lash out at former video production assistant Blake, who famously cashed in on her death by selling his story to the press.
And it’s not the first time Amy’s fans have turned on her former lover.
Here Sun Online looks back at why Blake says he was blamed for her tragic and untimely death, as he says he's tired of being the only one blamed.
The £65 wedding
Blake met Amy at The Good Mixer pub in Camden in 2005 and despite him having a girlfriend, he went home with the singer.
Within a month, Amy got Blake’s name tattooed on her heart. In return, he had hers etched behind his ears.
Blake proposed to the singer at her flat in Camden just one month later with a Tiffany ring.
At the time, Amy said: "I'm a very lucky girl to have found someone I love a lot. I want to be with Blake for the rest of my life."
The pair got married in a secret wedding in Miami, 2007, with Amy sporting a £100 anchor patterned white mini dress.
The ceremony, spontaneously planned, cost only £65 – and to celebrate the newlyweds ate a burger and chips breakfast with a few friends before spending 48 hours in their hotel room together.
But the honeymoon period didn’t last for long.
Bloody, bruised and covered in blood
Just weeks later, pictures of the singer covered in bruises and blood, her knee ripped open and her arms covered in bandages, walking out of the Sanderson Hotel emerged.
Blake looked even worse, with bloody scratches running down the sides of his face and neck, which he tried to cover up with a scarf.
Rumors whirled of domestic violence between the once loved-up pair, made worse when Blake was seen chasing her out of a different hotel a few weeks later.
But Amy insisted there was nothing wrong and defended her man in a series of texts sent to celebrity blogger Perez HIlton, saying: “Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other.”
The Rehab singer went as far as saying that her husband had actually “saved her life” that night.
“I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him,” Amy said. “I lost it and he saved my life."
The couple were spotted hand in hand the next day as if the incident never happened.
'She threw a bowl of chilli at me once'
It was the start of a string of brutal incidents that would garner interest from the public about Amy and Blake’s tumultuous relationship.
In 2013, in response to questions from Jeremy Kyle on whether the couple were ever physical, Blake said: ”No, never, not even pushing and shoving really. I think she, like, threw a bowl of chilli at me once… but when we had both had a drink i guess it was just intense.”
But it wasn’t just alcohol the couple struggled with.
Fielder-Civil has always been blamed by Amy’s fan base and family as the evil influence behind her drug addiction.
He confirmed this, telling The News of the World that introducing Amy to heroin was the “biggest mistake of his life”.
“I was smoking [heroin] on foil and she said can I try some,” Fielder-Civil told the Jeremy Kyle Show. “I might have put up a weak resistance – the fact is whatever I said she did end up having some.”
Fuelled by a need for drugs, Amy and Blake’s rows and drug use reached new levels.
Wedding album in a skip full of syringes
In 2009, just two years into the marriage, Blake sought a divorce from the star on the grounds of adultery, after seeing her with another man while on holiday in the Caribbean.
Shortly after, a photo album featuring never seen before photographs from their wedding was found in a skip in Kilburn along with used syringes and needles.
Winehouse’s spokespeople alleged that the album belonged to heartbroken Blake.
But it was Amy’s drug addiction that was getting worse…
Found dead by her bodyguard
Over the next few weeks, Amy’s drug addiction reached its peak and videos began circling of her smoking crack and snorting cocaine at gigs.
While those around her fought to save her, Amy was on a downward spiral.
On 23 July 2011, Amy was found dead on her bed by her bodyguard. She had died of alcohol poisoning.
Blake was serving a 32 month prison sentence for armed robbery at the time and was banned from attending memorial services and Amy’s funeral by her family.
After hearing the news from prison guards and collapsing into sobs, Fielder-Civil was put on suicide watch at Leeds’ Armley Jail.
He said: “I’m beyond inconsolable… my tears won’t dry. I will never ever again feel the love I left for her. Everybody who knew me and Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”
After Amy’s death, Blake continued to dabble on and off with drugs, alcohol and crime.
While trying to mend his broken heart, he allegedly had a brief fling relationship with a teenager, who also happened to be an Amy impersonator.
'I didn't ruin her'
Since 2013, Blake met his current partner, Sarah Aspin and the pair have two children.
In 2014 he visited Amy’s grave in Edgwarebury Lane for the first time, almost three years after she was found dead.
He said: “It took me so long to see Amy’s grave because I wanted to understand what happened, I guess. It’s just so final and definite, and I had emotions about whether I was wanted there or deserved to be there.”
“I don’t think I ruined her, no,” he said. “She wasn’t a happy, well-adjusted young woman and I find it disrespectful to imply I was some machiavellian puppet master.”
In 2016 the troubled ex-con escaped jail after stealing an £170 bag from a barmaid; he was caught by CCTV footage which showed him casually swiping the item before making a swift exit.
Adding to his five previous convictions, Fielder-Civil pleaded guilty to the offence – but this didn’t do anything for his image, who is still shunned by most Amy fans and her family.
Over the years, the singing sensation’s ex-husband has claimed he wanted to put the past behind him and his former in-law Mitch Winehouse – but the pair have yet to meet and talk things through.
But if he can’t get it from Mitch, if there’s one thing Blake wants, that’s forgiveness and sympathy from those grieved by Winehouse’s early death: “Since she’s passed away nothing has gone well. I feel like I’m being punished.”
