How old is Sir David Attenborough, who was his wife Jane, how many brothers does he have and what's The Queen's Green Planet about?

But how old is David Attenborough and who were his brothers? Here's what you need to know about the popular National Treasure…

How old is David Attenborough and what series has he presented?

Sir David Attenborough is a 92-year-old veteran broadcaster, who was born on May 8, 1926, in Isleworth, London.

He is best known for presenting the nine Life series – which surveyed animal and plant life on planet earth.

David, who was born in Isleworth, west London, is also known for narrating Wildlife On One (1977 – 2005), and over 50 episodes of Natural World.

He later narrated The Blue Planet (2001), Planet Earth (2006) and Frozen Planet (2011).

He is the only person to have won BAFTAs for programmes in black and white, colour, HD, and 3D.

More recently, he has been narrating BBC One’s first 4K Ultra HD production, Life Story, since October 2014 – as well as  Waking Giants.

He also fronted Attenborough And The Sea Dragon, a show all about the remains of an ichthyosaur which was found on the Jurassic Coast.

The Queen's Green Planet is his latest documentary and will air on April 16, 2018.

The programme focuses on climate change and explores Her Royal Highness' plan to create a global network of protected forests across the Commonwealth.

What is David Attenborough’s net worth?

David’s net worth has been estimated at approximately £24million.

We previously reported that he is one of the BBC’s top earners after declaring a total pre-tax income of £1.13million in a year.

It means the Planet Earth II presenter is likely to be in a list of all its broadcasters on over £150,000 and whose pay will be made public under new transparency laws.

Sir David, — who has been making documentaries since 1952 — declared the sum for the year to September 2015.

His daughter Susan confirmed it, but said he also earned from sources other than the BBC.

The presenter declared earnings of £905,000 after tax, or £1.13m pre-tax for the period to September 2015.

Who were David Attenborough’s wife and brothers?

David’s wife was Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel.

The pair wed in 1950 and had two children, Robert and Susan.

Jane, who was from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, passed away aged 70, in 1997 after collapsing with a brain haemorrhage while David was filming in New Zealand.

David Attenborough’s brother was Oscar-winning actor and director Richard Attenborough.

Richard was David’s elder brother and passed away aged 90 in 2014.

You may remember Richard, who studied art RADA and was also a producer and director, from roles in The Great Escape, Flight of the Phoenix, Miracle on 34th Street and Jurassic Park.

Richard was awarded a number of British state honours throughout his life and, at the time of his death, went by the address of The Rt Hon. The Lord Attenborough CBE.

Tragically, before his death, Richard lost three generations of women close to him to the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004.

He lost his daughter, Jane Holland, 49, and granddaughter, Lucy, 15, as well as Jane’s mother-in-law, Audrey, who was 81.

David also had a younger brother named John, who passed away aged 84 in 2012.

John had worked as an executive in the motor industry, before becoming a financial advisor.

What's The Queen's Green Planet about?

Sir David takes a walk around the Buckingham Palace garden whilst learning about Her Majesty's plans to create a global network of forests.

The goal is to create conservation initiatives across all 53 Commonwealth countries to mark Her Majesty's lifetime service to the Commonwealth, while still preserving natural habitat for future generations.

The monarch says she hopes to “change the climate again”, which Attenborough says would be a “wonderful legacy”.

ITV have teased thus far: “In a rare opportunity to see the Queen talking informally to Sir David, the conversation ranges from climate change to conkers and birthday gifts."
