Holly Willoughby to be replaced on This Morning

Holly Willoughby will be replaced on This Morning while she’s Down Under filming I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! as a stand-in for Ant McPartlin.

The 37-year-old presenter will join Declan Donnelly in the Jungle for this year’s I’m A Celeb, after the Mirror exclusively broke the news three weeks ago.

She said this morning that she’s thrilled to get the gig and sent Ant a sweet message of support.

"I couldn’t be more excited to have been asked to stand alongside Dec for the next jungle adventure," Holly revealed.

"I love Ant and want to send him my best wishes and support for a continued recovery. These are big shoes, not to fill, but just to keep warm for a little bit."

She joked: "When is it a good time to tell Dec I’m scared of everything that moves?"

But her jetting out to Australia means Phillip Schofield will be left back home in London to present This Morning without his bubbly sidekick.

He’s yet to publicly congratulate Holly for her new gig, but no doubt was in the know all along as their families spent time together at the start of the summer holidays.

Now ITV producers have been tasked with sounding out their other talent to stand in for Holly on This Morning, as she will be away for a month from mid-November.

Among the other presenters rumoured to be in the running for the Jungle job were Scarlett Moffatt , Caroline Flack and Stephen Mulhern – so one of them may end up co-hosting the daytime magazine show.

Other presenters who have recently tried their hand at the helm while Holly and Phil are away were Mark Wright and Mollie King , Rylan Clark-Neal and Gok Wan and – of course – Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

In a statement announcing Holly’s I’m A Celeb stint, ITV’s director of television Ken Lygo said: "Holly is a brilliant presenter with a wicked sense of humour who has always enjoyed a great friendship and rapport with Ant and Dec – I have no doubt she will take to Jungle life, if not the critters, really quickly."

"Plans for This Morning will be announced in due course," ITV added.
