Harvey Weinstein on Being Shunned by Hollywood: ‘It Saddens Me’

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein says he’s saddened that Hollywood has shunned him and “devastated” by his wife Georgina Chapman leaving him in the wake of extensive revelations of alleged sexual assault.

“I don’t know what to say. With some [people I considered close friends], it saddens me,” he told Page Six TV on Wednesday when asked how he feels about his Hollywood and Washington D.C. friends denouncing him.

Weinstein was fired Sunday in the wake of the Oct. 5 New York Times story detailing sexual harassment allegations from several women, including Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan. The New York Times report was followed Tuesday by another explosive story in the New Yorker with accusers including Asia Argento, Mira Sorvino, and Rosanna Arquette. Chapman later announced that she would be leaving her husband.

“I am profoundly devastated,” he told the show. “I have lost my wife and kids, whom I love more than anything else.”

Chapman, 41, married Weinstein, 65, in 2007. They have two children: a daughter, India Pearl, and a son, Dashiell. He had three kids with his first wife and former assistant Eve Chilton.

“I fully support her decision,” Weinstein said about his wife, the co-founder of Chapman, divorcing him. “I didn’t stand in Georgina’s way when we discussed a separation; I encouraged her to do what was in her heart. I know she has to do what is best for the children, for herself, and her business — she employs 130 people. I don’t want her or my children to be hurt any more than they already have. I truly love Georgina, and I hope one day we can reconcile, although right now I don’t know if that could possibly happen.”
