Gwyneth Paltrow says she ‘loves being a wife’ after secret wedding to Brad Falchuck and thanks ex Brad Pitt for ‘using his fame and power’ to protect her

The Shakespeare in Love actress, 46, tied the knot with the 47-year-old Glee co-creator in a private, intimate ceremony in the Hamptons, New York over the weekend.

In a revealing interview with Marie Claire, Gwyneth said she was initially "unsure" she would get married again, after splitting from husband of 13 years, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2016.

But it was "incredible" Brad, who she first met on the set of Glee in 2014, that saw her change her mind on the traditional institution.

"I think that marriage is a really beautiful, noble and worthwhile institution, pursuit and endeavour," Gwyneth told the magazine. "For a while, I thought, I don't know if I'd ever do it again.

"And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I'm very much the marrying kind.

"I love being a wife. I love making a home.

"Because I don't think you get married and that's it, I think it's the beginning. You create this third entity, this third being that you have to nourish and look after."

Despite their split, Gwyneth is still on good terms with Chris, 41, and the pair share two children together – Apple, 14, and Moses, 12.

Before she consciously coupled with Chris, however, Gwyneth previously dated Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt for three years, before they split in 1997.

She previously described the Fight Club actor, now 54, as "too good for her" in a candid chat with Howard Stern back in 2015.

In her new interview, she describes how 'grateful' she is to Brad for protecting her from Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein following an alleged incident of sexual misconduct.

She explained when she was 22 the disgraced movie producer placed his hands on her at a hotel and suggested they go to a bedroom for massages.

After confiding in Brad, the actor confronted Weinstein at a Broadway opening.

"I am so grateful to Brad, because he leveraged his power and fame to protect me, when I was no one, and he scared Harvey," she explained.

"And if it hadn't been for him, I don't know if I'd have gotten fired, or what.

"But instead, Harvey was like, 'OK, let's put it behind us'.

"I think he wanted to keep Brad on side."
