EastEnders reveals Ray Kelly's shock secret as Mel Owen makes huge discovery

EastEnders fans were finally given an insight into Ray Kelly’s big secret tonight (October 11) after Mel Owen did some more digging.

The BBC soap seemingly revealed that Ray (Sean Mahon) has been hiding the fact that he’s got another family, as Mel followed him to the hospital in Thursday’s scenes.

Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) has grown increasingly suspicious of Ray’s mysterious behaviour over the last few weeks and has even turned to her former flame Jack Branning for help.

Determined to get to the bottom of what’s going on, Mel has been getting Jack to use his police contacts in order to get some information on Ray – convinced that he must be up to no good.

However, Mel was left even more disconcerted when Jack’s search failed to throw up any significant findings, prompting her to come to another conclusion entirely.

Remembering how Ray had referenced ‘Matthews’ as he’d rushed off earlier on, Mel finally started putting the pieces together and later decided to head to the hospital.

Once she’d arrived, Mel realised that ‘Matthews’ was actually a paediatric ward, where Ray could be seen comforting a woman and an unwell young boy.

The mystery pair were named as Maddie Wright and Jake Wright in the show’s closing credits, heavily suggesting that they are indeed Ray’s family.

We already know that Ray’s real name is Simon, with both his passport and old acquaintance Jeff referencing his real identity.

Mel was visibly crushed to see what Ray had been keeping from her, but fans will have to stay tuned to find out if her fears are about to be confirmed.

If they are, Mel will undoubtedly have more questions for Ray – but where will this leave their future together?

EastEnders continues tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC One.
