EastEnders reveals a devastating Mick Carter twist after Ritchie Scott returns

EastEnders aired another devastating blow for Mick Carter tonight (September 21) as Ritchie Scott failed to get him out of prison.

Mick (Danny Dyer) is facing manslaughter charges for shooting Stuart Highway, after the villain named him as the culprit when he woke up in hospital earlier in the week.

Desperate to get Mick home as soon as possible, Friday’s episode saw the Carter clan recruit the Mitchells’ trusty lawyer in a last-ditch attempt to help his case.

With his bail hearing fast approaching, Mick made a frantic call to his wife Linda at the start of the episode – urging her to get him all the help she could.

But despite being determined to help Mick, Shirley and Linda were left feeling increasingly frustrated during a meeting with his solicitor – who was clearly very inexperienced.

Thankfully, Shirley did know someone who was much more qualified and later called in Ritchie (Sian Webber), with Sharon’s help.

To the Carters’ delight, Ritchie seemed fairly confident that she could get Mick home by the end of the day, adding that he couldn’t be held on such insubstantial evidence.

Unfortunately, the family’s relief was short-lived when Ritchie returned to The Vic after the hearing and announced that Mick hadn’t been granted bail.

Ritchie went on to explain that the judge had evidence that she didn’t have – revealing that gunshot residue was found on Mick’s shirt.

“As forensic evidence goes, this is as strong as it gets,” she said. “We need to prepare for trial and we’ve got a fight on our hands. With the evidence they’ve got, Mick is going down for a long time.”

Whether Ritchie can fight for justice remains to be seen, but the good news for the Carters is that she does have a pretty good track record.

Ritchie has appeared in a number of storylines over the years, including fighting Sam Mitchell’s corner over Den Watts’ murder, helping Phil to fight for custody of Ben, and representing Sonia when she was arrested for killing Pauline Fowler.

In more recent years, Ritchie reappeared when Phil was charged with causing the fatal car accident that killed Emma Summerhayes, when Ben was accused of murdering Lucy Beale, and later when Bobby Beale was arrested and charged.

Ritchie was last seen at the end of 2016, when she helped Phil change his will during his liver failure storyline.
