The Coronation Street actor – who plays David Platt – broke up with his partner of 15 years in October last year.
The couple have two children together – Nyla and Reuben – while Jack, 30, also has a son called Greyson from a one night stand in 2010.
While Jack has moved on to a new relationship with girlfriend Hanni Treweek, he gave a hint of how his split from Lauren had taken a toll on him as he hit back at a Twitter troll today.
The individual wrote: "'CoronationStreet wtf has david platt done to his hair? Looks like roadkill stuck to his head. T***".
Jack replied: "Hi, my hair has started to fall out because I went through a break up with my girlfriend of 15 years last year. And was very stressed. I'm sorry Gary."
Jack's fans praised the star for putting Gary in his place, with one tweeting: "Brilliant come back."
Another wrote: "I hadn’t even noticed your hair Jack, take no notice of that ridiculous comment!" while a third added: "Omg! This Gary must have a very boring life to come out with such a comment! Nice comeback Jack, luvin the beard btw, suits you sir."

A source told how the actor drunkenly impersonated the Bafta winner and called her a "cow" during an evening at a Manchester bar with co-stars Julia Goulding, Daniel Brocklebank and Hayley Tamaddon.
An onlooker told The Mirror: "They were drunk and rowdy and getting louder and louder.
"Hayley was talking about being on TV with Jane McDonald and was excited about this.
"Jack called Jane a cow and started impersonating her, copying her accent, and Hayley kept telling him to stop."
