A furious Daniel – played by Rob Mallard in the ITV soap – rages as he blames Sinead’s new friend Steff for convincing her that she doesn’t need chemotherapy to beat cancer, but Sinead is devastated as she reveals Steff only has days to live.
Daniel’s dad Ken Barlow offers to give the shell-shocked couple a lift to the hospital while Sinead’s aunt Beth Tinker desperately searches for a way to help Sinead.
She finds a clinic in Germany that could give her lifesaving treatment, but her hopes are dashed when she realises it would cost thousands.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Daniel tells Ken about Sinead’s cancer spreading, leaving him shocked. Sinead is left reeling again when the oncologist tells her that she needs to start chemo right away if she has any chance of surviving.
But what will this mean for the pregnant factory worker’s unborn baby?
Later Sinead – Katie McGlynn – tells a horrified Beth the news. When Beth sees Carla Connor put the combination into the safe at the factory, her mind starts whirling.
Sinead then heads to chemo with Daniel and tells him she’s sorry that she has avoided the treatment and reveals that Ken has been secretly paying for her complimentary therapies.
Later Chesney Brown is on hand to comfort a devastated Sinead who has just found out that Steff has passed away.
