Celebrity Island's Montana Brown hits out at host Bear Grylls as she opens up about "tough" experience

Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls has seen many of the latest line-up quit the series, from Celebrity Big Brother‘s Roxanne Pallett to former Love Island contestant Montana Brown, who quit two weeks into the month-long stretch.

And now that Montana is home, comfy and not battling to survive on an island with other celebrities any more, it seems she has a few choice words to say about her experience – and host Bear Grylls was at the top of her list.

“He just dropped us off and then went to the Four Seasons,” she told Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle on the Private Parts podcast . “Twat.”

Well, to be fair to Bear, Montana, he’s done the whole survivalist thing before, so we think he’s proved himself in that respect.

But Montana wasn’t done there, as she went on to explain that she was “hesitant” to agree to the series in the first place and opened up about how she found her experience on Celebrity Island “mentally tough”.

“It’s so much harder than it looks,” she continued. “It’s not like reality shows where you’re with your friends and people are the same age, girls and guys, and it’s all quite fun.

“Whereas I was on a show with all ages so I was the youngest and then two of the girls left right at the beginning, so it was me and Jo Wood and she’s over 60, so I found it mentally tough because I felt like I didn’t click with anyone.

“Especially when you don’t have your phone, you feel so far away from home, and everyone’s like, ‘What were you doing in the ’90s?’ and I’m like, ‘I was in a womb’. You just don’t know what to say.”

Among the celebrities who took part, including Anthony Ogogo and Martin Kemp, Montana added that she didn’t get on with Julia Roberts’ brother Eric, adding: “He’s a bit of a knob.”

“I just thought he looked down on me the whole time, I don’t know why,” she added. “That’s the first time I’ve ever really felt like someone didn’t like me for no reason and treated me like shit.”

Although she did add that “he warmed up a little bit” towards the end of her time on the show, so there’s that.

Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls continues on Sunday (September 23) at 9pm on Channel 4.
