Alec Baldwin‘s recent arrest over alleged assault seemingly doesn’t cost him his “Saturday Night Live” gig. The comedian, who won an Emmy award for his acclaimed impersonation of President Donald Trump, will return as POTUS on the long-running NBC comedy show despite the charges of misdemeanor assault leveled against him.
“When it comes to Alec he is family with [creator and executive producer] Lorne [Michaels] and ‘SNL’ and he has great relationship with NBC,” a source close to the network and the award-winning show reveals to HollywoodLife.com. “So as long as he would like to do the Trump character for ‘SNL’ then he will be the only choice.”
The source went on saying, “It is his character, his job. And until he doesn’t want to do it anymore it will be his decision if he would like to do it or not.”
On Friday, November 2, “The Boss Baby” actor was arrested by New York Police Department officers and has been charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment. He allegedly punched a 49-year-old man over a parking spot outside his apartment near 10th Street and Fifth Avenue in the Greenwich Village neighborhood for swooping into a space Alec was preparing to park in himself.
Of the reports, the “30 Rock” alum claimed that they were “egregiously misstated,” tweeting, “However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realize that it has become a sport to tag people w as many negative…”
He continued in a separate post, “negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment.” He added, “Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn’t make the statements true.”
Alec was released from the NYPD’s 10th Precinct without bail and will be arraigned on November 26.
